History
Macon-Bibb County EOC was established locally in 1965 as
part of the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Department
in accordance with the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964.
The Agency became a City-County agency through a joint resolution
of the Bibb county Board of Commissioners and the Macon City
Council. In 1985, the Macon-Bibb County EOC became an incorporated,
private, non-profit agency.
Macon-Bibb County Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. is Governed
by a fifteen (15) member board. One-third of the Board of
Directors must consist of elected public officials, holding
office on the date of selection or their representatives.
No less than one-third must be persons chosen in accordance
with democratic selection procedure, adequate to assure that
the members are representative of low-income individuals
and families.
