Energy Assistance Program

The Georgia Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally funded program that helps low-income households pay their home energy bills. This support can reduce risks such as illness, fire, or utility disconnection.
Through Georgia LIHEAP, eligible households may receive:
  • Help with energy bill payments
  • Emergency energy crisis assistance
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for LIHEAP in Georgia, applicants must meet the following:
  • Be a U.S. citizen or legally admitted immigrant
  • Have a total gross annual household income at or below 60% of the State Median Income
  • Be fully responsible for paying energy costs for the household’s main heating source
Additional Information
  • Assistance is provided on a first-come, first-served basis within each agency’s service area.
  • Applicants are encouraged to apply early before funds run out.
  • Households with a credit of $1,000 or more on their energy bill are not eligible.
