Macon, Georgia— July 2015. The Middle Georgia Regional Commission (MGRC) is pleased to announce the selection of the Macon-Bibb County Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. (EOC) as one of its Region 6 transportation service providers under the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) Coordinated Transportation Program. The service area of Region 6 assigned to Macon-Bibb EOC includes Crawford, Macon-Bibb, Monroe and Peach Counties.
The DHS Coordinated Transportation Program is intended to serve the most vulnerable citizens of Middle Georgia by providing safe, reliable public transportation to meet basic needs. Starting July 1, 2015, Macon-Bibb County EOC will provide transportation services in the aforementioned 4 counties of Region 6 to consumers of the following state agencies: Department of Human Services (DHS) Division of Aging Services (DAS), DHS Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS), Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), Department of Public Health (DPH), and the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Services (GVRS).
The Macon-Bibb County EOC was awarded Region 6 service provider status on June 12, 2015 following the submission of a successful proposal in conformance with the requirements and specifications set forth in an RFP issued by the MGRC on May 14, 2015. The Macon-Bibb County EOC winning proposal demonstrated extensive applied experience in the provision of transportation services along with the staff capacity and fleet infrastructure to provide the highest level of safe, efficient, customer-oriented transportation for the citizens of Middle Georgia.
